I Like The Way You Burke It

Hi.

The purpose of this blog is to attempt to chronicle the very interesting, the interesting, and the not-so-interesting events of my life. The angle I go for is always the humorous one. I have found that if I don’t find the funny stuff in life then I would just cry all the time. I am not so arrogant as to think that this blog will be widely read so I am truly writing it for myself as a  a life journal of sorts. But for all seven of you that have actually subscribed to my blog, I am delighted to inform you that you have been permanently included in my will. So for that, CONGRATULATIONS!

Name: Kate Schneider Burke

Nuts and Bolts: Grew up Lexington, KY – youngest of three – happy and married parents – Kent School – University of Georgia – moved to Atlanta where I still live.

Married: Happily to a tech-geek who likes technology, biking/hiking, fountain pens, welding, the beach and sweets.

Hell yes: Coffee ice cream. Red wine. Skype Chat.

Hell no: Mustard, all types. Small minded people.

Can’t live without: My two dogs, Foxy and Neena. Chapstick.

I can’t stop: Moving, organizing, cleaning, reorganizing, re-cleaning. I would be lying if ‘worrying’ wasn’t on this list. So I am going to lie and not mention it here.

I suffer from: Mild mania. Homesickness for my parents. A big butt.

How I came up with the name ilikethewayyouburkeit: My husband and I were in the kitchen on a very uneventful Saturday soon after we got married, and I was trying to get used to my new last name. Then I just blurted out, ” I like the way you Burke it…no diggity!” We both laughed like hyenas.

I am lucky because: I have seriously amazing friends. And a lot of them.

I am unlucky because: If in a group of say, 6, someone will step off the curb and fall into a garden lush with fire ants and pesticides that will make your hair eventually fall out, well, that someone will ALWAYS be me. Maybe that is why I have many friends. Maybe they just keep me around for their own personal safety. Hmm…
